“The Universe is full of fractals, indeed it may even be one!”
Nigel Lesmoir-Gordon (The Color of Infinity)

Sandy Keller's personal journey as an artist began early on. Growing up in Denver exploring the Rocky Mountains with all of their beauty surrounding her, led her to have an aptitude for art that was apparent in her early work.

Marrying young meant occasionally her art was put second. Because of her family, she moved to California for many years. While there she became a registered nurse, all the while continuing to study with several well known Southern California artists. Sandy won many awards for her oil paintings, which are in collections in the United States and abroad.

In 2000 Sandy and her husband, Jerry, moved to Santa Fe where her impressionistic oil landscapes were well received. Shortly after moving, Sandy was introduced to acrylics by some Santa Fe artists. But acrylics did not behave like oil paints, and Sandy began to develop her own technique in which 30 to 50 layers of glazes and paint are applied to wood panels.

The resulting paintings are part serendipitous, part guided, with each layer dictating the next. The paintings, indeed, became a “microcosm” of her oil landscapes. Fractals come to mind. Order out of chaos, always an attempt for competition or coexistence. “My paintings show that striving of the paint for order that comes from an unorganized beginning.” This “order” is apparent in almost everything we see in our lives, these patterns are apparent in the reflections on a pond, waves following waves, geology revealed in a stone, the forms in fire and ice, the cosmos and the very beginning of the universe. Nature expresses itself in terms of repeating symmetries and synchronicity which is harmony.

“I hope to move people, help them to see the beauty at all levels of our existence. I believe art touches the deeper places we live, it is the signature of humankind. I want to show people the spirit and the soul that are in the life around us, and when our days are filled with the magnificence of art it makes for an abundant life.” Sandy is moved when collectors share with her their excitement for her work, and she is attracting an impressive number of new collectors..
